Summary of IPV

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a prevalent health issue and it is important anyone involved in health care have an awareness of the problem. Identifying and treating IPV victims can have a significant impact on their health and well-being. I hope readers have gained an understanding of the magnitude of the problem and how they can help IPV victims. In order to help health educators develop an awareness about the topic I believe the power and control wheel adequately summarizes what intimate partner violence is.

  1. Hello Christine,

I know that IPV is a hard topic to address and teach to nurses who live in small rural town. I applaud your effort and I wish you luck in this endeavor as you build your teaching strategy and research design in this field as we need more education on IPV.

  3. Hi, Christine, I enjoyed your blog and presentation. Your comments about how difficult it is to deal with domestic violence issues among prominent members of a small community made a real impression on me. Since I work in a large county, I rarely encounter people I have worked with outside the office. I can see how this would really complicate the ability to help victims/survivors. Thanks for a great blog! --Liz
